CD
Mastering
CD mastering is the process of turning recorded music into a
high quality CD. The first step to CD mastering involves
transferring the tapes from a specific recording to a digital
editor. Then, the tunes are put into a sequence and a standard
amount of space is placed between cuts. The beginning and end of
each cut can be faded, or, if the client prefers, the cuts can be
cross faded so that they blend together. Any unpleasant background
noises can be eliminated.
Special equipment is then used to sweeten the sound of the
music. In this process, the music's clarity and smoothness are
enhanced in order to give emotional impact to the words and melody.
If you are a professional musician looking to compete for radio and
store play, CD mastering is the
only logical choice for your recordings. A mastering engineer is
well-schooled in the subtleties of musical sound. After a week of
non-stop recording, a musician's ears may be numb to some of the
dissonances that occasionally appear on the tracks. The mastering
engineer will catch them and correct them immediately. The finished
tracks are then transferred to a recordable CD.
Depending on what you want done with your music, different
mastering tools might be used. Dynamic equalizers can accent
specific instruments. Exciters are harmony enhancers. In order to
be a winner in today's competitive music industry, you need a high
quality recording of your music. Don't settle for inferior quality.
